What are Dentures?
Dentures are replacements for missing teeth that can be taken out and placed back in your mouth. Although dentures take some getting used to and will never feel exactly like one’s natural teeth, today’s dentures look natural and are more comfortable than ever.
There are two main types of dentures: full and partial. Your dentist can help you choose the best type of denture for you based on whether some or all of your teeth will be replaced and the cost.
How do Dentures (artificial teeth) Work?
With full dentures, the flesh-colored acrylic base fits over your gums. The bottom of the upper teeth cover the palate (the roof of your mouth), while the lower teeth are shaped like a horseshoe to fit your tongue.

Complete Dentures
Complete dentures are made for patients after all of their natural teeth are removed. They can be fabricated when you already lose all of your teeth, or they can be fitted in your mouth on the same day as your teeth removal. This way you get your teeth the same day as your tooth extraction.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures rest on a metal framework that attaches to your natural teeth. Sometimes crowns are placed on some of your natural teeth to anchor your dentures. Partial dentures provide a removable replacement for bridges.
